Dobbin Estate overlooking vineyards and a pond

The newly established Dobbin Estate in the Twenty Mile Bench sub-appellation of Lincoln, Niagara has casually rolled in to the wine scene with a quiet, but resounding presence. The 50 acre estate sits in what seems to be its’ own peaceful, natural world, tucked away from the roadway, with vineyards, beautiful gardens, and an abundance of other flora surrounding the estate’s pond. Dobbin Estate feels like a beautiful escape with stunning views and peaceful sounds of birds, with the occasional vineyard tractor passing by.

Four appetizers infront of four wine glasses and Dobbin Estate wines

A tasting within the second level of the Dobbin Tower includes delicious and thoughtful two-bite pairings by Chef Laura Ramik.

Dobbin’s wine list is comprised of Ontario’s core vitis vinifera varieties - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Riesling. With a focus on crafting a high-quality, luxury brand, Dobbin is strictly sticking to what the terroir showcases best. Each wine displays the optimum amount of finesse, texture, and depth that the Bench provides.

Two bottles of Dobbin Estate Riesling

While each wine produced at the estate has proven to be some of Ontario’s best in their respective categories, it is the two rieslings that stand out as Dobbin’s trophy wines. The beloved grape of Peter and Ann is apparent in these two rave-worthy, complex wines.

With 18 months of lees aging each, the Riesling 2019, and Dry Riesling 2019 both offer layers of structure and flavour, with sensational floral, ripe citrus and peach notes, and an appetizingly tenacious finish.

Dobbin Estate tower

Currently, Dobbin has 18 of their 50 acres under vine. With the scenic pond taking up 7 acres, there’s still plenty of land with optimal grape growing soils to be utilized. As tastings have begun to open to the public (by appointment only), it wont be long before the caliber of Dobbin Estate wines is realized by a wider pool of consumers and vineyards expand on the gorgeous Dobbin Estate.
